The PWHPA All-Stars, who are currently training in Hub City Tampa, have teamed up with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning. On Friday afternoon, the Lightning confirmed that members of the PWHPA All-Star team in Tampa Bay would be joining the organization’s ‘All Girls Learn to Play’ program this Sunday, February 14th.
The program begins at 2:30 pm and takes place at AdventHealth Center Ice, which is the main rink being used for Hub City Tampa. The PWHPA will be represented by G Maddie Rooney, D’s Savannah Harmon and Kali Flanagan and F’s Kelly Pannek and Samantha Donovan. Flanagan, Rooney and Pannek won Olympic Gold Medals in 2018 with Team USA, while Harmon is a two-time National Champion with Clarkson. Donovan, a forward with the Minnesota Regional Training Hub, played a Brown University.
In addition, the Lightning will be providing social updates on the PWHPA’s remaining three games inside of Hub City Tampa. The games resume tomorrow morning at 11:30 am when the PWHPA takes on the Jersey Hitmen of the USPHL’s Premier League. The game is free to watch on Hockey TV.
Sources have also confirmed that the PWHPA All-Stars will hold their practice on Tuesday afternoon at Amalie Arena, home of the Lightning. The group will take the ice at 4:30 pm for their final practice in Hub City Tampa.
