Lisa Chesson is heading back to Buffalo. The former Olympian, Isobel Cup Champion and US Women’s National Team member has agreed to a contract with the Buffalo Beauts for the 2020-21 season. It will be her fourth campaign in the NWHL.
Chesson finished the 2019-20 season with a NWHL career-high nine points (1-8-9) in 16 games. She won the 2017 Isobel Cup with the Beauts, her rookie NWHL season.
Chesson played her college hockey at Ohio State University, posting her best season as a junior. During that 2006-07 campaign, Chesson scored 37 points (13-24-37) in 37 games from the blueline.
The star defender helped her country win gold medals at the IIHF World Championship in 2009 and 2013. They also claimed a silver medal in 2012. Chesson joined Team USA when they earned a silver medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She had six points (3-3-6) in just five games.
She also has competed in five Four Nations Cups for her country.
“The NWHL has made significant progress over the years in giving us a place to play, but most importantly, making an impact on the next generation of women’s players,” Chesson said, per the league’s official release. “I am beyond excited to have another opportunity to continue to grow the game both on and off the ice, and I’m really looking forward to next season with Buffalo and the NWHL.”
Chesson is a two-time NWHL All-Star. She appeared in the 2018 and 2019 games, which were played in Minnesota and Nashville respectively.
